MAUREEN CRUISE, BA, RN

A Los Angeles area native and lifelong resident, proud mom and grandmother,  Maureen Cruise RN, received her BA in Sociology and Psychology from UCLA.  She enrolled in graduate studies in Psychology before leaving to pursue a career in nursing. Maureen is a former Research Associate at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute and a former Public Health Clinic RN with the LA County Department of Health Services and Red Cross Volunteer.  She has worked at LAUSD schools on projects as a Parent Outreach Coordinator, Student Support Services Coordinator and as a volunteer Program Developer.  Maureen has been active in solidarity with many health care justice organizations and coalition partners in California for over 20 years.  
 
An elected Delegate and  member of the Executive Board of the CA State Democratic Party she served on the Progressive Caucus Health Care Task Force and was the Progressive Democrats Los Angeles Health Care Liaison before re-registering as No Party Preference. Her grassroots Social Justice volunteer efforts span over 50 years including intersecting issues of social justice, civil, racial and human rights, environmental protection, public education, disaster relief, and decades of anti-war activism.  Ms. Cruise organizes and participates in community forums, interviews, workshops and marches and rallies to help educate the public and encourage participation in the movement for single payer universal healthcare.
